Games of 2017

Games of 2017, Thoughts, Opinions, Release Dates and more

As with every new year there are games that are announced and awaiting release that we all get excited for. Here are a few of my most anticipated games of 2017.

Assassins Creed: Empire

Now I have to admit, I’m starting this article off a little bit biased. Assassins Creed has been my favourite game since I first saw the trailer of the original…See my Assassins Creed post to hear about my lovely back story. So it’s only fitting for me to talk about AC: Empire despite the fact that it is currently just a rumour. It is a known fact that Assassins Creed Unity was rushed and it cost the franchise enormously due to the amount of bugs that came with it at release. As you could expect this deterred a lot of people from the franchise because, Well let’s be honest who wants to play a buggy game. For me though, I had the mindset that they should have just taken their time to release so they could have got it right. So to say I wasn’t a little disappointed would be a lie but by no means was I put off for good.

This time it seems that Ubisoft, The people behind the AC franchise, are taken their time. Either that or they are too busy with the film that they dropped the ball on the game…Which I’m not complaining about because…It’s an AC film, is there more to be said. Despite their reasons they are taking their with this release to the point that it hasn’t even been announced where as in the past the next iteration would have been released by now. DigitalSpy and PCAdvisor both have good roundups of every thing we know so far about AC:Empire. Though it could still go either way, they are worth a read.

Crash Bandicoot

Crash Bandicoot

I’m just going to let that sink in…They have remastered crash bandicoot and it is coming to PS4. The official release date for Crash Bandicoot is February 24th, 2017. If like myselfand many, many other you played crash bandicoot on the PS1 you will be ecstatic and a little bit worried. Despite Crash Bandicoot being an epic game of it’s time…of all time should I say…It was rather infuriating at times.  That being said I super excited to be able relive all those memories. The game has been built from the ground up so it has the smoothness of a modern game but with the same story that we all know and love.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2

I think it’s safe to say…It’s about time. It has been too long since I have chased a friend down the on the back of a horse and thrown a Molotov at them, or left the group so that I can get auto aim on there head and snipe them…but you know…I wouldn’t do that anyway. Red Dead Redemption 2 was announced last year and I can’t wait. It is to be released in Autumn of 2017 and I think it will be great! If you haven’t yet watched the trailer you can go and watch it hereWith this iteration of the game being made next gen…If you can still class it as next gen, Current gen maybe…You can imagine the graphics look amazing. Unfortunately, after No Mans Sky, I can no longer trust trailers and have to wait and see the final product before I will be amazed by game-play. That being said I am super excited about this release and can’t wait to see if it can follow in it’s predecessors footsteps.

Destiny 2

Destiny

Destiny 2 is the next iteration of one of Bungies, The guys behind Destiny and Halo, more recent franchises. The first “Destiny” took the world by storm when it came out and made over £260 million ($325 million) in it’s first 5 days. There isn’t an official release date for Destiny as of yet but the game is expected to come out before the end of 2017.

Halo Wars 2

Halo Wars 2

I was introduced to the first Halo Wars a pretty late, by a friend of mine but I have to say the game was epic. Being brought into a game by friends is always challenging because they will already know what they are doing but it was fun to come to terms with it and beat my friends on the occasion. Halo Wars 2 is due for release on 21st of February 2017…so not long. If you haven’t already you should go and pre-order your copyAlso, if you haven’t seen the trailer you should definitely go and check that out.

Resident evil 7

Resident Evil 7

Now I have to admit…I have never played any of the Resident Evil games, but I have watched the films…Does that count? Hopefully so. The newest resident evil is so close that we can almost smell the zombies in it. The release date for Resident Evil 7 is 24th January 2017 so I’m assuming you’ve already got yours pre-ordered and you’re waiting to spend all of that Tuesday evening engulfed in the new story. If you haven’t got yours pre-ordered yet there is still time to pre-order it on Amazon. If you havenn’t yet seen the trailer…go watch it. It will creep you out but would it really be Resident Evil if it didn’t…?

They are some of the games that I am really looking forward to in 2017. Of course there are many more to mention and lots more to be announced. As always it’s shaping up to be a decent year for games.
